What is a TeleVisit?
A Televisit is a virtual one-on-one office visit through the Patient Portal or Healow App. 'Virtual' (Tele) meaning that it takes place over an internet connection through a computer or cell phone. 'Visit' meaning that you will see a provider in real time to discuss your health. The provider will be able to assess your symptoms and issues and make the necessary recommendations, including prescribing medications and scheduling follow up appointments.
TeleVisits are a great addition to regular office visits because they can be scheduled the same day as the actual virtual appointment.
To begin your Televisit, follow these easy steps:
1. Have an active Patient Portal account, with username and password
2. Set aside a secure, private location
3. “Arrive early” by logging in to your Patient Portal. If you can’t access the Portal, you can also begin your appointment through the reminder link sent to your email.
4. Click “Join TeleVisit” in your patient dashboard (or email reminder).
5. You may also download the Healow app on your smart device (iPad, iPhone, and android etc)
6. Fill out any patient questionnaire, and provide requested personal information.
7. Click “Proceed” to check your computer’s speed and ability to support a TeleVisit. If your computer does not have a webcam you can use any other personal device with
8. Click “Start TeleVisit” to enter the virtual waiting room.
9. Your physician will begin the face-to-face TeleVisit, and disconnect when the visit ends.
10. Most insurances cover televisits but you should check with your insurer regarding how telemedicine is covered under your particular policy/benefits.
